HOW TO HACK SAFARICOM AIRTIME

Its a beautiful evening! The heat of the day has receded to a solacing warmth. The sunset has occurred and the colours of the hotel verandah are softened from the sunshine loosing its brightness. I drift my eyes to the cool glass of cocktail juice in my hand and the new layer of gel polish that enables me realize that the day's duties are over. However, I have a meeting with Madam Susan who is helping me with some paper work that I need to beat a deadline in two days. Madam Susan is a busy consultant and half of the time, she is on phone. I am curious to know the airtime package she uses. Seemingly, Ms. Susan is a Safaricom registered customer who is neither aware about
Post-pay plan nor All in One monthly data package. Approximately, Ms. Susan uses Ksh. 250 - 500 airtime on a daily basis. This is damn expensive, right?

I definitely took my time to explain to her about these economical packages and you can be damn sure that Ms. Susan was elated on discovering them. She enrolled to PostPay on the spot😀.  I thought it would be wise to serve you with the information in my famous Venecity Chronicles so that you are not left behind😊.

You will agree with me that out of 10 Kenyans, 8 are using a Safaricom services. Severally, we have complained of how damn expensive their airtime and data are but we all agree that they are the fastest communication service providers in Kenya. In my opinion, you get the value for your money.  I did some analysis of their economical packages and a summary on how to enroll below;

Nokia 2.4 Kes 13,500 @Elegant Phones_254

1. PostPay

This tariff allows you to use the services now and pay later. You can set a preferred monthly credit limit from Kshs. 1000. This package is open to every safaricom customer except for corporate accounts.

Nowadays, it's so easy to enroll unlike before when you needed to visit a Safaricom shop  near you and did a lot of paper work. You can join via mySafaricom app and USSD *544#

You can increase/decrease the limit as per your usage.

The advantage of this package is that the PostPay bundles have no expiry dates. The minutes can also be used for international calling to India, China, USA and Canada.

You can never buy the bundle more than once in a month, but once you exhaust the data and minutes, you can enroll to All in One package before the bundle auto renew every 1st of the month. Unfortunately, you cannot sambaza the resources to another party.

If you enroll at the middle of the month, the amount and resources will be prorated with no expiry. You will receive full package on the first of the next month.

 Let me illustrate why this package is economical;

·         Let’s assume you choose the KSh. 1000 plan;

With normal usage, One minute = Ksh. 4

So for 400 minute* Ksh 4 = 1600. For the 1000 package, you save Ksh 600, get extra 5GB Data and unlimited SMS. Nice deal, right?

·         Ksh 2000 PostPay plan; 1000 minutes * Ksh 4 = Ksh 4000.

You will save (4000-2000)= Ksh 2000, get 15GB and unlimited SMS. Clearly, from the illustration above, we can all agree that this package is quite economical.

 2. ALL IN ONE MONTHLY BUNDLE

Safaricom introduced this bundle with a purpose of seeing its customers enjoy discounted data and calling rates. All bundle come with WhatsApp and FREE  2GB YouTube.

The advantage of this package is that you can choose the plan based on your needs. You can dedicate all your cash on data if you are a heavy  data user. For average users, you can acquire a package with both data and minutes. If you make a ton of calls during the month, there is a voice heavy package with more minutes and data on the side compared to other packages.  Check the table below.

Just like I illustrated the PostPay plan, I will do the same here. Lets work with the least package, i.e. Kes 1000, if for instance you got internet in the house, you may choose more minutes, i.e the 400 minutes + 1GB.

Thus, 400 minutes *Kes 4 = 1600, You pay Kes 1000, meaning that you will save Kes 600, get extra 1GB plus FREE 2 GB and WhatsApp. If you do the math for the rest of the plans, you will agree that these packages are very economical compared to normal credit usage.

3. Data or airtime with No expiry dates

Probably you are not a heavy user and you may feel like this article is not yours, this article is for you! You may be using as little as Kes 20, 50, 100 etc.

Dial *544#, choose any amount to buy and get  50% extra airtime for calls and SMS.

This type of plan has no limitation, you can purchase the bundles as many times as possible. Unfortunately, they do not come with free WhatsApp.
